Description
------------------------------
Gerontechnology is an interdisciplinary field combining gerontology and technology. Sustainability of an ageing society depends upon our effectiveness in creating systems, coping with assistive technology and inclusive design, for innovative and independent living and social participation of older adults in good health, comfort and safety. Gerontechnology aims at matching systems to health, housing, mobility, communication, leisure and work of the elderly.
E-therapy is a new modality of helping people resolve life and relationship issues. It utilizes the power and convenience of the Internet to allow simultaneous and time-delayed communication between an individual and a professional. E-therapy is generally not considered a complete substitute for face-to-face sessions; however, it provides immediate assistance where help is not close by or when in-person visits are not possible.
The development of computing systems in gerontechnology and e-therapy has turned into a challenging activity requiring disciplines as different as artificial intelligence, human computer interaction, engineering and communication to work together in order to provide solutions able to satisfy this growing demand of the society. The stakeholders must be able to create systems that are as intelligent as to detect falls or emotions, as usable as to be exploited by people with mobility problems, and as reliable and autonomous as to monitor health and mobility.

Topics
------------------------------
This workshop aims at publishing novel and outstanding research results about natural and artificial computing that offers support to both gerontechnology and e-therapy. Both research and industrial papers those take advantage of such different disciplines to cover (but not limited to) the following topics are welcome:

 Telehealth and telemedicine
 Wearable communication devices
 Lifelong learning for mental health
 Rehabilitation technologies
 Assistive technologies and devices
 Emotion / affect / mood recognition and regulation
 Personalised ambient adaptation
 Social / care robots and agents

Special Issues
---------------------------
Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit an extended and improved version to a special issue published in Pervasive and Mobile Computing (JCR Impact Factor: 1.667).
