Workshop Objectives

After the success of the first Workshop on User- and Ambient-Adaptive Gerontechnologies (WAGER 2014), it is our pleasure to launch a new CfP for a second meeting devoted to this topic.

Workshop Goals: Gerontechnology is an interdisciplinary field combining gerontology and technology. Sustainability of an ageing society depends upon our effectiveness in creating technological environments,

including assistive technology and inclusive design, for innovative and independent living and social participation of older adults in good health, comfort and safety. Gerontechnology aims at matching

technological environments to health, housing, mobility, communication, leisure and work of the elderly.

A framework for gerontechnology may be seen as a matrix of domains of human activity: health and self-esteem, housing and activities of daily living, communication and governance, mobility and transport,

work and leisure, and technology interventions (enhancement and satisfaction, prevention and engagement, compensation and assistance, care and care organisation).

The term adaptation is inherently linked to Ambient Intelligence, as it refers to a process in which a system adapts its behaviour based on information acquired about its users and its environment. This

workshop aims at bringing together current and future gerontechnologies with a special focus on adaptation capabilities.

Paper Submission

We invite researchers to submit high quality contributions describing significant, original and unpublished results in the following categories:

Long papers: Intended to allow presentation of academic research results of high quality. Submissions must contain an original contribution and may not have already been published in another forum, nor be

subject to review for other conferences or publications. Contributions should include unpublished results of research, case studies or experiences that provide new evidence about the research or application

regarding to the main topics. Articles accepted in this category will be published in the proceedings of the event. Long papers must not exceed 12 pages (including figures and appendices).

Short papers:Intended to allow presentation of ongoing studies with partial (however, significant) results. Submissions must contain an original contribution and may not have already been published in

another forum, nor be subject to review for other conferences or publications. Articles accepted in this category will be published in the proceedings of the event. Short papers must not exceed 6 pages

(including figures and appendices).

All papers should be written in English.

All submissions should be made by EasyChair platform and must follow the LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) Formatting Guidelines. Please ensure that your papers are formatted correctly and are within

the specified page limits. Author information and templates are available in Information for LNCS Authors web, or downloading the templates here for Latex and Word.

At least one of the authors of an accepted paper has to be registered and attend the workshop for presentation of the work such that the paper can appear in the UCAmI - IWAAL - AmIHEALTH post-proceedings

volume, which will be published by Springer in its LNCS series.

The accepted papers will be included in the UCAmI - IWAAL - AmIHEALTH post-proceedings volume, which will be published by Springer in its LNCS series.

Selected papers would be invited to be extended and submitted for review to Journal Special Issues (under negotiation).
