INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON
BIG DATA ANALYTICS (BDA 2012) New Delhi, India December 24--26 2012 http://www.bda2012.net/ CALL FOR PAPERS AND TUTORIALS Streaming data, social media content, electronic medical records, astronomy surveys, genomic and proteomic studies and similar areas result in repositories in the scale of terabytes/petabytes/exabytes or larger. They pose significant challenges in analysis, going beyond what can be supported by conventional data, storage and retrieval models. Recent meetings (KDCloud10, KDCloud11, PDAC10) have generated interest in adopting cloud and distributed computing resources for large scale data management, data mining and knowledge discovery tasks. The International Conference on Big Data Analytics (BDA 2012) is set in this backdrop. The goal of the conference is to generate interest among researchers by exposing them to ground breaking opportunities arising from analysis and processing of massive volumes of distributed data stored across clusters of networked computers. We invite researchers, developers, and users to participate in this event to share and discuss the emerging challenges in developing data management and data mining solutions, and frameworks around cloud and distributed computing platforms. Major topics of interest include but are not limited to: * Analytics as a Service * Architectural Design for Big Data Analytics * Conceptual Models for Analytics * Cognitive Models for Analytics * Data as a Service * Data Centric Networking * Data Management in Clouds * Data Models for Big Data Analytics * Domain-specific Analytics * Index Structures for Big Data Analytics * Interaction Design for Exploratory Analytics * Model Discovery * NoSQL and non-standard Data Models * Physical Data Organization for Big Data * Predictive Modeling * Programming Models for Big Data Analytics * Query Languages and Paradigms * Rule Mining from Big Data * Standards for Data Centers * Scalability and Performance issues * Security Analytics * Streaming Data Analytics * Summarization and Materialized views * Topic Modeling * Unstructured and Semi-structured Data Mining * Visual Analytics Original, high-quality papers addressing the above and related topics are invited. We strongly encourage papers that report experimental work and results. Authors are invited to send PDF or Postscript files (using standard compression and encoding, with details). For preparing the manuscript, please see instructions for authors by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0). Each paper should contain a cover page with the title and a short abstract of approximately 200 words. It should contain no author information. The submissions must not exceed 16 pages, including the cover page. The submissions will be accepted through EasyChair (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bda2012). Submissions close on 14 August 2012 at 23:59 GMT. Tutorial proposals should be in the form of extended abstracts, no more than 3 pages long in the LNCS format (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0). They should be submitted using the EasyChair system (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bda2012) in the Tutorials track. Preference is given to tutorial speakers who have practical experience in their tutorial topic and can augment their talks with pertinent demos. Accepted tutorial speakers will be invited to submit a 6-page paper about their tutorial for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Submissions for tutorials also close on 14 August 2012 at 23:59 GMT. Selected papers will be invited for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Computational Science and Engineering (http://www.inderscience.com/browse/index.php?journalID=125&year=2012&vol=7&issue=1) on Big Data Analytics after further review and upgradation. As a confidence building measure, the conference also plans to publish reviews of all its accepted papers, on the website. Important Dates Paper Submission deadline: 14 August 2012 Response to authors: 7 September 2012 Camera-ready papers: 15 September 2012 Conference start: 24th December 2012 Steering Committee Chair: S.
