Call For Papers

The ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) is an international forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge among researchers and developers concerned with virtual reality software and technology. VRST will provide an opportunity for VR researchers to interact, share new results, show live demonstrations of their work, and discuss emerging directions for the field. The event is sponsored by ACM SIGCHI and SIGGRAPH.

VRST 2012 will be held downtown in Toronto, Canada. Toronto is an international business hub, a commercial capital, one of the top financial centres in the world, and is a major player in almost every economic sector. It features a very diverse and multicultural population of more than 6 million in the metropolitan area. As a result, Toronto has great shoppin, offers a wide variety of food choices, and cultural experiences. The conference will be hosted by the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. VRST 2012 aims at bringing together VR researchers from around the world to present the state-of-the-art advances in this ever-growing dynamic area.

We invite you to participate in the ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) 2012. ACM VRST 2012 seeks original, unpublished papers documenting original research contributions, practice and experience, or novel applications, from all areas of virtual, mixed and augmented reality.

The VRST technical program consists of high quality technical papers that are reviewed and selected by an international program committee. Papers are solicited on all technical aspects of Virtual Reality and related technologies, including but not limited to the following topics:
- Systems (see also below)
- Interaction Techniques
- Modeling and Simulation
- Collaborative / Networked Virtual Environments
- Real-Time Rendering
- Augmented Reality
- Input / Output Devices
- Human Factors
- Haptics & Audio Interfaces
- Applications of Virtual Reality, such as Training Systems and Serious Games

This year the conference will feature a special track on VR Systems papers. This track will focus on
- Architectures, Frameworks, and System Design
- Reusability, Extensibility, and Adaptivity
- Performance Testing & Evaluation

Submissions are sought that describe original, unpublished work on the conference topics. VRST 2012 uses an anonymous submission process for paper submissions. Conference proceedings will be published in the ACM Digital Library. Please follow the style guidelines onhttp://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates for formatting your paper. We invite both long and short paper submissions, where short papers are up to 4 pages and long papers up to 8 pages. A link to the electronic submission system will be published in the future.

Long & short paper submission deadline: July 15, 2012.
Notification deadline: August 31, 2012.
Posters and demos: September 30, 2012.
