Call For Papers

We invite doctoral students in Artificial Life and Intelligent Agents to attend the Doctoral Workshop organised in conjunction with ALIA 2016, the Second International Symposium on Artificial Life and Intelligent Agents.

ALIA 2016 will be a two-day event held at Aston University in central Birmingham in the UK, on the 14th and 15th June 2016. ALIA is a unique event which aims at bringing together researchers from the artificial life and intelligent agents communities, which have significant scope for cross-pollination of ideas and techniques. ALIA will showcase high quality research and facilitate discussion aimed at fostering collaboration, providing feedback on early stage work and identifying new research directions.

The Doctoral Workshop in ALIA 2016 is a forum in which PhD students present and discuss their work with each other and a panel of experienced researchers and practitioners. The workshop will take place on the 15th of June 2016 (time to be confirmed along with the rest of the program).

Applicants should be Ph.D. students at any stage of their doctorate with a direction of research relevant to ALIA. We encourage students whose research would benefit from guidance provided by peers and senior colleagues at the Doctoral Workshop.

* Submission Guidelines

Applicants should submit the following items via email to phdworkshop@aliasymposium.com:

1. A 4-page extended abstract of your doctoral research including:
- Details on the context and background of your work
- Research questions and objectives
- Main contributions
- A brief literature review
- Problem/hypothesis statement
- Research approach and methodology
- Any initial results

All submissions should be set in Springer LNCS style.

* At the conference

You will be required to provide a 3min presentation of your work to the Doctoral Workshop committee, on the day of the Workshop. Feedback and a discussion on your presentation and ext. abstract will follow your presentation.

* Important Dates:

2nd May - Deadline for submissions (via email to phdworkshop@aliasymposium.com).
16th May - Authors receive reviews and decisions.
14th-15th June – ALIA 2016.

More information, submission instructions and registration information can be found at the symposium’s home page: http://2016.aliasymposium.com/

ALIA 2016 is kindly supported by the Systems Analytics Research Institute at Aston University.
