Aim of the Seminar
As wind has become the most technically and commercially advanced as well as most promising source of renewable energy, the European Power Electronics and Adjustable Speed Drives Association (EPE) dedicated a special chapter on this issue: the EPE Wind Energy Chapter. After the successful gathering at the EPE 2007 Conference in Aalborg, it had been decided to organize seminars dedicated to wind energy where experts can discuss various electrotechnical aspects related to the development of wind energy. The first Chapter Seminar took place in Delft on 27 and 28 March 2008, the second in Stockholm, Sweden on the 23rd and 24th of April 2009, the third on the 15th and 16th of April 2010 in Stafford, United Kingdom and the fourth from 9 to 11 May 2011 in Trondheim, Norway. With the increase of the number and installed power of wind farms to be connected to the grid, grid issues have become of primary importance in the successful integration of renewable (wind) energy sources in the electrical system. This is why the next EPE Seminar will, again, be a joint chapter seminar on wind energy and grid issues. This symposium will take place on the 28th & 29th of June 2012 in the Utzon Centre, Aalborg, Denmark. List of topics: Topic 1: Wind Energy Conversion Technologies Topic 2: Control of Wind Power Plants and their Transmission Solutions Topic 3: Protection in Wind Power Plants and Transmission Solutions Topic 4: Grid Connection and Compliance of Wind Power Topic 5: Reliability of the Electrical Parts of Wind Energy Systems Topic 6: T&D Power Electronics (non-wind power related) Topic 7: Energy Storage for Wind Power Integration Topic 8: Future Trends of Wind Energy Conversion and Power Electronic Applications The aim of our seminar is to meet, discuss and get acquainted with the latest development of this fast developing technology, in an informal and friendly atmosphere. |
