On the occasion of the 36th year of its foundation, the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with the ASEAN Studies Center, and the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, as well as the National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL), Japan, cordially invite scholars working on Southeast Asian linguistics to join us at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS23)in Bangkok, Thailand. This meeting provides a forum to share both research findings and ideas on the languages and linguistics of Southeast Asia, including the Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Hmong-Mien, Tibeto-Burman and Tai-Kadai language families. Abstracts are invited for papers on any areas related to Southeast Asian Languages including but not exclusively: • Phonetics and phonology • Grammatical system • Genetic and areal relationships • Historical and comparative studies • Semantic, pragmatic and discourse analysis • Sociolinguistic study • Psycholinguistic, neuro-linguistic, and cognitive study • Language and culture/thought • Language documentation Date and venue May 29-31, 2013 at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University Bangkok, Thailand Abstract submission Please send your abstract of no more than 500 words plus examples and references via Easychair (link available on the conference website). If special fonts or characters are required, please use Unicode.Presentations will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion.
