Any person who are interested in Georgian language, culture, history, traditions. No prior knowledge of Georgian required. Why attend? - Spend a week in beautiful city Tbilisi. The origin of the name Tbilisi (from the Georgian word tbili, or warm) is indicative of the nature of the city and its people. Home to over 1.5 million residents, the capital city of Georgia prides itself on its warm hospitality and rich cultural life. It’s location between Europe and Asia and its status as one of the oldest cities in the world make it a prime spot for travelers, students, and scholars interested in both ancient history and current events in Eurasia. - Gain more in depth knowledge of Georgian Culture. Georgia has always been a meeting point of different peoples and cultures, and it continues to be a curious cross-section of ancient and modern, as well as of Soviet-rooted and Georgian traditions. Majority of Georgians describe themselves as Christians and belong to the Georgian Orthodox Church, although you will likely encounter Russian Orthodox, Muslim, and Jewish peoples as well – among others. Ethnically, Georgians make up the vast majority of the population, with Armenians, Russians, Azeris, Ossetians, and Abkhazians rounding out the rest. - Taste Georgian Cuisine and wines. Georgian cuisine is one of the most interesting aspects of Georgian culture. All over the former Soviet Union, Georgian cuisine is considered to be the most exotic and flavorful. The Georgians pride themselves on their delicious cuisine, and will be eager for you to try their best national dishes. Generally Georgian dishes favor spices, meat and vegetables (fish dishes are rare), as well as walnuts, garlic, and creams. The most famous national dish is khachapuri (bread filled with cheese); shashlik, salads, and mushroom dishes are also inevitable at mealtime. What can you expect?
