Oil, Gas & Energy Law intelligence (OGEL, ISSN 1875-418X, www.ogel.org) invites submissions for a Special Issue focusing on 'Carbon-neutral energy'.

The concept of carbon-neutral energy has emerged in response to decarbonisation, as governments and energy companies take various actions aimed at reducing the energy industry's carbon footprint. In the past few months, several novel carbon-neutral energy transactions (for example, offsetting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with an LNG cargo) have been announced by energy industry participants. With the growing focus on net-zero targets, the notion of carbon-neutral energy is set to become even more relevant in the future.

There are several unresolved issues related to carbon-neutral energy. For example, the lack of transparency and uniform standards for GHG emissions quantification and certification is widely seen as a major concern. Another set of challenges is related to the scalability of carbon reduction technologies and the development of voluntary carbon markets. The risk of regulatory changes adds another layer of complexity to the structuring and execution of energy projects and contracts.

This special issue will look at the key issues related to the emerging carbon-neutral energy trade, taking a multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary perspective. We encourage submission of relevant papers, studies, and comments on various aspects of this subject. Topics of interest include:

* The impact of decarbonisation on energy projects
* Regulatory issues related to carbon-neutral energy
* Measurement, reporting, and verification of GHG emissions
* Carbon capture and storage and other emission reduction technologies
* Carbon markets and offsets
* Structuring energy contracts with carbon neutrality objectives
* Carbon-neutral oil and LNG sales transactions
* Carbon-neutral power deliveries
* Decarbonisation-related disputes and price reviews

The minimum word count of articles should be 5000 words (excluding footnotes, end notes, appendices, tables, summary etc.). Articles should include summaries (150-200 words). The layout of the articles should conform to OGEL's submission guidelines available at:
