IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications
Special issue on Business Intelligence Analytics Final submissions due: 7 January 2014 Publication date: September/October 2014 One of the most common uses of information visualization is for business intelligence: a tremendous number of charts and graphs are created daily to address business analytics problems. Business Intelligence (BI) is the practice of interpreting and visualizing data to get useful business-oriented information. BI tasks occur in offices, universities and data centers and provide a data-oriented lifeblood to research and business organizations around the world. BI systems must often appeal to broad audiences, from knowledge workers to CEOs to stockholders, and allow for rapid analysis for both decision-making and developing insights, as well as for communicating the results of those insights. The September/October 2014 issue of IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications will be devoted to the topic of Business Intelligence Analytics. For this special issue, we solicit stories about the business-intelligence aspects of data and information visualization. We solicit papers about tools designed for exploring business data, and for presenting results; for one-off visualizations and standing dashboards. We welcome papers on a variety of topics, including: • real-world experiences with designing, building, deploying and evaluating new information visualization and visual analytic systems; • case studies describing success (and failure) of applying visualization to business intelligence problems; • review and evaluative papers discussing or comparing current tools and toolchains; • technologies intended specifically to support the business analytics process; and • user studies on business intelligence tasks. We welcome papers from both commercial and academic sources; from researchers as well as practitioners. Questions?
