CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION The Third International "Organic Computing Doctoral Dissertation Colloquium" OC-DDC 2015 as joint event with Second International Spring School on "Trustworthy Self-Organising Systems" June 8th - 10th 2015 Augsburg, Germany ================================================================================ The 2015 edition of the Doctoral Dissertation Colloquium (DDC) as a joint event with TSOS Spring School is organised by - the Special Interest Group on Organic Computing within the Gesellschaft für Informatik and - the Research Unit "OC-Trust". It will take place in Augsburg, Germany from Monday, June 8th to Wednesday, June 10th. Details on the joint event are available at: http://www.informatik.uni-augsburg.de/lehrstuehle/oc/OC-DDC15 We invite applications from PhD students at any stage of their doctoral studies on Organic Computing, Self-Organisation, Trustyworthy Systems and related research topics. *** Colloquium theme *** ====================== The intent of the DDC is to bring together PhD students who have their research focus within the broader Organic Computing community and will not have defended their thesis before June 2015. The main goal of this colloquium is to foster excellence in OC-related research by providing students feedback and advice that are particularly relevant to their doctoral studies and career development. Each participant will take part in the colloquium organisation and the review process for the other participants. This time the DDC is complemented by the TSOS Spring School. The spring school is organized by the Research Unit "Trustworthy Organic Computing Systems (OC-Trust)" and will provide a frame for discussing current approaches in the context of technical trust in Organic Computing. Therefore, two keynote speakers will present current research in the field, which is supplemented by a tutorial on related concepts. Speakers will be available during the OC-DDC and participate in the feedback process for the PhD students. Details on the speaker will be available as soon as possible (see website). The schedule includes: - Prepare an extended abstract or short paper of 6 pages (max.) reflecting your PhD concept - Participate in the Review Process - Participate in the (supervised) decision process (acceptance of submissions) - Present your work to an audience consisting mainly of other PhD students from your community - Identify points of contact between your work and others - Build your social research network - Meet experts in your research domain and listen to their invited talks and tutorials - Enjoy the opportunity to get hints on the PhD process and related topics from these experts PhD students are invited to participate by submitting an extended abstract of up to 6 pages (written in English, in Springer's LNCS style). The colloquium will give participants the opportunity to present their ongoing research in a friendly forum. They will obtain valuable feedback from colloquium attendees in a constructively critical and informal atmosphere. After the OC-DDC, each participants will be invited to prepare a book chapter for an edited book.
