Call For Papers

Call for contributions

Companies like Amazon, Netflix, Etsy, and Facebook uses a “DevOps” approach to deliver features regularly to their customers, in some cases even several times per day. However, most companies are still operating on a release cadence that takes many months, and struggle to improve on that. In Agile software development, considerable attention has been devoted to the continuous development, delivery and deployment of software. Continuous deployment can enable companies to increase development speed and to quickly react to problems discovered in products post release. The experimentation model whereby companies employ split A/B testing with customers is one example of this. However, there is still a need for a better understanding of the roles, responsibilities and performance measurement of DevOps and the implementation of infrastructure.

The goal of this workshop is to gather practitioners and researchers working on topics related to DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.

Topics of interest
We solicit case studies and research reports on (but not limited to) the following topics:
- Empirical studies highlighting the need for DevOps in various industrial settings
- Case studies/experience reports of DevOps successes and failures
- Challenges/impediments to migration from traditional development to DevOps-oriented development and maintenance
- Metrics for DevOps – including both the technical metrics (e.g. defects), process metrics (e.g. continuous integration) and management (e.g. efficiency)
- Tools and methods for DevOps
- Automated support for operations
- Continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Current & future trends relevant to DevOps
- Infrastructure as Code – experiences, metrics, challenges
- Container technology such as Docker, Rocket, Linux container technology.

We seek the following types of contributions (maximum length):

Full research papers (6-12 pages)

Industry experience reports & case studies (4-6 pages)

Position papers (2 pages)

Lightning talks (1 page abstract)
