IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing

------------------- Special Issue on -------------------
------- Data-Driven Dependability and Security ---------

The Special Issue aims to concentrate contributions from academic and industrial organizations addressing dependability and security of computer systems and networks through data analysis, and to publish consolidated research results focusing on data-driven methodologies, measurements from production systems, analysis of large datasets.

IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC) is a bimonthly journal that publishes archival research results focusing on foundations, methodologies, and mechanisms that support the achievement—through design, modeling, and evaluation—of systems and networks that are dependable and secure to the desired degree without compromising performance (taken from http://www.computer.org/web/tdsc).

--- SCOPE of the Special Issue ---

Assessing dependability and security properties of computer systems is today an important concern for engineers and practitioners. The analysis of textual/numeric data and log files produced under real workload conditions by applications, systems, and networks, intrusion detection systems, monitors and issue-trackers plays a key role for dependability and security evaluation. Data analysis is crucial in a variety of tasks, such as measuring availability and reliability of a system, characterizing failures, gaining insights into the progression of security attacks, designing mitigation means and countermeasures.
Academia and industry widely recognize the inherent potential of dependability and security data analysis for assessing dependability of computer systems and operational networks, and improving the engineering process. Nevertheless, in spite of decades of research and methodological advances, data analysis in this specific area keeps posing challenging research questions due to the heterogeneity, volume and velocity of the collected data, the lack of systematic, end-to-end analysis procedures, the increasing diversity of analysis objectives and emerging application domains in critical areas.

--- SUBMISSION NOTES ---

Submitted articles must not have been previously published or currently submitted for conference/journal publication elsewhere, and must be a significant contribution to the state of the art in data-driven dependability and security.

All the submissions will be judged on novelty of the proposed problem and/or solution, technical relevance and practicality of presented ideas, relevance of the addressed topic to the scope of the Special Issue, writing and presentation, accuracy and impact of the results. As an author, you are responsible for understanding and adhering to the IEEE TDSC submission guidelines (http://www.computer.org/web/tdsc/author).

Please, carefully read these guidelines before submitting your manuscript. In the case the manuscript extends previous work, please make sure to: 1) cite the previous paper(s); 2) clearly explain in the paper introduction and related work Sections what the contributions of the submitted paper are, and why they are significant; 3) by way of points 1 and 2, explain how the paper submitted this SI of IEEE TDSC extends the previous work; 4) any material taken and used from the conference paper, or any other paper, must be properly attributed. That means text must be quoted and cited and referenced. Permission for including figures that appear elsewhere must be obtained from the copyright owner.

To ensure a proper submission, log in to the manuscript central for the IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tdsc-cs) and select *TBA* Special Issue as manuscript type.
