CALL FOR REGULAR PAPERS
Track 9. Information and Communication Technology in Energy Systems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ETFA 2015
20th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation
Luxembourg
8-11 September 2015

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Web site: http://www.etfa2015.org/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The aim of the ETFA 2015 conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from the industry and academia and provide them with a platform to report on recent advances and developments in the newly emerging areas of technology, as well as actual and potential applications to industrial and factory automation.

FOCUS OF THE TRACK:

The power and energy domain is experiencing a major change in terms of operation and planning. The advancement into a Smart Grid produces new challenges. With the introduction of distributed generation (e.g. photovoltaic, wind) and controllable/flexible loads (e.g. electrical vehicles, storages) new advanced information and communication technology as well as automation and control methods are required in order to cope with these new challenges. This track is therefore focused on the development, adoption and application of information technology for energy and power systems (Smart Grids).

Topics within the scope of the track (note that this list is not exhaustive):

- Intelligent automation and control architectures (e.g. Multi-Agent-Systems)
- Fault location/isolation/service restoration (e.g. self-healing system)
- Power system modelling and optimization
- Advanced information and communication systems
- Modelling and simulation of Smart Grid components and systems
- Model/Software/Hardware-In-The-Loop experiments for smart grid applications
- Operation and control of active distribution grids and dispersed generation with strong focus on scalability and replicability
- ICT Interoperability and standardization-related topics for Smart Grids
- Application of Smart Grid related standards (e.g., CIM, IEC 61850, OPC UA, IEC 61499)
- SCADA systems of operation of power distribution grids and micro grids
- Recent developments in SCADA and distributed control technology
- Security and privacy in Smart Grids
- Home and Building Automation and Renewable Energy Systems
- New roles, services and business models for distribution systems (incl. regulatory framework and interaction with transmission system operation)
