The Edwin Mellen Press
Call for Monographs in Sociology For over thirty years the Edwin Mellen Press has published scholarship that perseveres. Our titles are intended to be research tools for doctoral and post-doctoral studies. Our sole criterion for publication is that each book must make a contribution to scholarship. Mellen titles have even won prizes over Oxford and Harvard. The Press is currently seeking Short Monographs (20,000-60,000 words), Full-Length Monographs, and Multi-Volume Works in the following Sociological fields. Sample topics include, but are not limited to: Race, Gender, Class Conflict Theories World Systems Theory Sexuality Gender Studies, Feminism, Masculinity Queer Theory (LGBTQ research) Social and Cultural Constructivism Post-Colonial Theory / De-Colonial Theory / Coloniality of Power Social and Cultural History Ethnographical Studies Immigration Studies (cross-cultural interpersonal relations) Criminology and Penology Sports, Leisure, and Recreation Social Theory (Durkheim, Weber, Marx, etc.) Critical Theory (Foucault, Frankfurt School, Marxism, Critical Race, etc.) Psychoanalysis of Society and Culture Sociology of Mental Illness Poverty Studies / Working Class Studies Sociology of Politics, Nationalism Urban Studies Globalization, Cultural Diffusion, Homogenization / Cultural Hybridity Identity Politics Sociology of Religion Slavery (historical and contemporary analysis of human trafficking) Oppression and Liberation Studies Micro-Mezzo-Macro Social Analysis Folklore and Community Narratives Publication is contingent on passing through two blind peer reviews. The author must also find two scholars who provide sponsoring reviews and a senior scholar to write the foreword. We never take subsidies from authors. All books are sold to archival libraries.
