Call For Papers

Key dates:
August, 1-17 – the Summer School AACIMP will be held
May, 20 – the early registration deadline
June, 1 – the late registration deadline
The detailed information is given on the project website http://summerschool.ssa.org.ua

Educational program of the School is presented with 3 streams “Operational Research”, “Applied Computer Science” and “Neuroscience”.

Operational Research

Participants of the stream will learn how Operational Research specialists use mathematical models to provide better decision making in real problems of business, government and society.
Preliminary topics of the stream are:
Financial Mathematics and Related Topics in Economics and Development,
Crisis and disaster operations
Introduction to Lean Manufacturing,
Mathematical Programming Modeling for Supply Chain Management.

Applied Computer Science

Being a participant, you will learn about the most effective machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. What is more important, you will study not only theoretical bases of ML and AI, but also will acquire practical know-how needed to quickly and powerfully apply those techniques to solve new problems.
Preliminary topics of the stream are:
supervised learning (classification analysis, neural networks, support vector machines); unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction, kernel methods);
learning theory (bias/variance tradeoffs; VC theory; large margins);
probabilistic modelling (bayesian networks, hidden Markov chains and models);
search heuristics (A* search; minimax).
All the topics will be based on applications of ML and AI, such as robotics control, data mining, search games, bioinformatics, text and web data processing.
Prerequisites: high school algebra; some programming background is useful but not necessary.

Neuroscience

This stream will give you a great opportunity to understand one of the most fundamental questions in the modern science - how the brain works. Lectures will introduce you to basic principles and techniques for analyzing, modeling, and understanding the behavior of cells and circuits in the brain.
The topics of the stream include the wide range of directions - from the neurotransmitter systems of the brain and their function, brain-computer interface to the multicompartment and stochastic models, amazing auditory system, molecular mechanisms of pain, cellular neurophysiology and modeling.
Prerequisites: participants of the stream are not expected to have any prior knowledge in the field.

DAAD program is offering a scholarship to the student studying in Germany at the moment for participation in the Summer School AACIMP, covering all the costs. All the details are at DAAD Go East program website (http://goeast.daad.de/).

To become a participant, it is required to fill in the application form
