-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SMART SENSOR NETWORKS AND APPLICATIONS (WSSNA'17) To be held in Cambridge, UK, 20 July, 2017 http://www.icfnds.org/wssna -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Held in conjunction with International Conference on Future Networks and Distributed Systems (ICFNDS 2017) SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP: The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers, academics, scholars to the forefront of research activity on smart Wireless Sensor Networks. The specific profile of this session is to promote the state-of-the-art in scientific and practical research of the sensors technologies and examine the research opportunities and applications. The workshop is an excellent opportunity to present the current challenges and future opportunities in building smart sensor networks and new wireless architectures in an efficient and sustainable way. Overall the goal is to provide a thorough overview of the main topics about smart sensors technologies and their envisioned integration. International speakers from academia and industry will give lectures tailoring their research field for an interdisciplinary audience. During the workshop, a dedicated discussion panel will bring into focus the collaboration between academia and industry in order to depict the future vision of smart sensors. Participants from the fields of computer sciences, information systems and communication technology will find an excellent opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary discussions, set up new networks and exchange information on a professional level. This workshop will allow participants to be exposed to cutting edge results in one of the most challenging research area, while at the same time enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Cambridge city. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: Authors are solicited to contribute original, unpublished contributions in all aspects of smart sensor networks and its applications. Submitted articles must not be concurrently considered elsewhere for publication. The WSSNA workshop seeks original contributions that address the following topics, but not limited to: • New architectures and new protocols for WSNs • Energy consumption optimization in WSNs • New platforms and developments tools for WSNs • Sensing and smart environments • Smart sensor and communication • Information extraction technologies • Languages and operating systems of sensors • WSN for the Internet of Things • Routing and data transfer, data aggregation and data compression techniques • Cryptography, security management and privacy issues in WSN • Data gathering, processing, and communication • RFID sensors and sensor tags • Application scenarios and real-world deployments for smart cities • Applications: wearable technologies, visual sensing technologies, smart environments, smart roads and context-aware applications • Smart sensors for localization and tracking • Smart wireless sensors for harsh environments, environmental, health, home and commercial applications • Wireless sensors applications in wearable computing and body area nets • Wireless integrated sensors, front-ends, and building blocks Prospective authors should submit by using the online submission platform, a regular (10-12 pages including references) or experience (6-9 pages including references) paper. The submissions should be written in English and strictly adhering to the specified format to be considered for reviewing and publication. All accepted papers will be published by ACM–International Conference Proceedings Series (ICPS) and will be available in ACM Digital Library. Authors of high quality papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for consideration of publication in ISI/Scopus indexed journals. Authors wishing to present a poster and/or demo may submit a 1 to 2 page extended abstract, which, if accepted, will appear in the ICFNDS conference proceedings. Accepted papers must be registered; otherwise they will not be submitted to ACM Digital Library. The first author is limited to submit a maximum of 2 papers and at least one of the co-authors of every paper should register.
