Call for Contributions TPDL Track on Creativity and Multimedia Libraries (TPDL-Crea&MM) a Specialised Track of the TPDL2016 - 20th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries September 5-9, 2016 in Hannover, Germany http://www.tpdl2016.org/ Twitter: @TPDL2016 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Creativity and Multimedia Libraries Digital multimedia libraries are related to creativity as they make available creative artefacts such as music, images and videos but also text. This track welcomes work on storage, organisation, retrieval and publication of (creative) multimedia in digital libraries, as well as work that combines computational creativity research with multimedia and digital libraries. Digital libraries have great potential for synergies with computational creativity research, i.e., the study of creative behaviour by computational means. For instance, digital libraries of creative artefacts can be used for analysis and learning about a creative domain, or as a resource of examples for creative algorithms. On the other hand, preservation of creative computational processes, of generated artefacts, and of creative experiences poses novel challenges for digital libraries. Topics ------ We invite researchers in computational creativity, multimedia and digital libraries to submit papers describing work in the intersections of any of these areas. Possible topics include, but are not limited to the following: - Creative uses of multimedia libraries - Analysis of creative artefacts in digital libraries - Creative information retrieval and extraction - Using digital library metadata, ontologies and semantic web techniques in computational creativity - Preservation of creative artefacts and experiences in digital libraries - Computational models of creative societies and digital libraries as their cultural storage - Research on the use of digital libraries as resources for computational creativity - Multimedia digital library research --- theory, algorithms and systems - Content-based multimedia mining in digital libraries - Metadata analysis in multimedia digital libraries - Exploration of multimedia archives --- browsing, searching and serendipity - Research on distributed multimedia access across repositories - Applications in Cultural Heritage Submissions and Proceedings --------------------------- The track invites submissions of both full papers (12 pages) and short papers (6 pages). All papers accepted for the specialised track will be published in the regular TPDL Proceedings. Submissions must conform to the formatting instructions of the TPDL conference (http://www.tpdl2016.org/callforpapers). According to the registration regulation for TPDL 2016, inclusion of papers in the proceedings is conditional upon registration of at least one author per paper. http://www.tpdl2016.org/creativity_and_multimedia Important Dates --------------- Deadline for submissions: March 15, 2016 Notification of acceptance: May 22, 2016 Camera ready versions: June 12, 2016 Organisation ------------ TPDL-Creativity & Multimedia Track Co-Chairs - Stefan RĂ¼ger (The Open University, UK) - Hannu Toivonen (University of Helsinki, Finland) |
