The BIOCULTURAL 2015 Conference aims to promote the discussion and debate on the sustainable challenges and opportunities offered by the architectural cultural heritage at various scales of the built environment, such as that of Urban and Rural Settlements and Neighborhoods, Historic and Traditional Buildings and Building Envelopes and Architectural Components/Materials. This international conference is seeking contributions in the form of Basic and Applied Research, Best Practices and Demonstration Projects and Public Policy and Administrative Frameworks based on three local themes:

A. Learning from architectural cultural heritage towards a sustainable contemporary architecture.
Under this topic authors are invited to discuss issues of sustainability of architectural cultural heritage and the potential application of its sustainable elements and solutions to contemporary architecture. Contributions could be based on theoretical approaches and demonstrations of current activities related to the implementation of design practices on the context of architectural cultural heritage.

B. Sustainable sensitive rehabilitation practices of architectural cultural heritage.
Under this topic authors are invited to address questions on energy efficiency, lifecycle analysis assessment, healthy built environments, adaptation to climate change, adaptation to new lifestyle trends and affordable rehabilitation, maintenance etc. on the context of the architectural cultural heritage.

C. Study and documentation of sustainable aspects of architectural cultural heritage.
Under this topic authors are invited to proceed with the discussion of sustainable aspects of sites and buildings with historic value in different landscapes, cultures and climates which is of outmost interest as it raises several important questions on identity and local context in architecture.
