Dear Colleagues,

The 7th International Conference on Nordic and Baltic Studies in Romania will be held at the “Nicolae Iorga” Institute of History of the Romanian Academy located in the very center of the capital city of Romania, close to the Victoria Palace which hosts the Romanian Government. The institute bears the name of the most renowned Romanian historian, Nicolae Iorga, a scholar who can also be considered among the pioneers of Scandinavian studies in Romania. The building was inaugurated on April 15th, 1939 and the core of its library is constituted by the 60,000 volumes of Nicolae Iorga’s personal library.
The conference is organized by the Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies in cooperation with the “Nicolae Iorga” Institute of History of the Romanian Academy and in partnership with the Nordic and Baltic embassies and consulates in Romania.
The meeting will focus on good governance in Romania and the Nordic and Baltic countries as seen from a variety of angles and from the perspective of various disciplines, institutions and practices related to accountability, transparency, the rule of law, responsibility, equity, inclusiveness, participation, efficiency, human rights protection, tangible, intangible and natural heritage conservation, etc. Chains of cooperation between Romania and the Nordic and Baltic countries will be cultivated and augmented.
