Mobile devices are now the most convenient and ubiquitous interface for accessing information services. The advanced sensing capabilities of these devices enable them to effectively observe, analyze and understand the context of the current environment and thus are used as service providers. However, the resource constraints of mobile devices limit the type and scale of functionality that can be offered by mobile applications/services. Mobile cloud promises to bridge the gap between limited resources and increasing demands of future mobile applications through an elastic resource provisioning model. This convergence between cloud computing technologies and the convenience of mobile devices offers improved performance of mobile systems and superior user experience. The topic of ubiquitous mobile cloud draws on inspirational ideas from many diverse domains including cloud computing, wireless technologies, context-aware computing, mobile commerce, location-based services, and vehicular networks.
The UMC workshop is intended to create a platform for researchers, developers, and practitioners in current mobile cloud and ubiquitous computing from academia, industry, and service providers to share and discuss their ideas, experiences, challenges, and practical implementations related to ubiquitous mobile cloud. We encourage high quality submissions addressing current challenges and proposing novel research directions. We invite technical research papers, industrial papers, position papers, and tool demonstration papers. List of topics include, but are not limited to: -Mobile cloud architectures and applications -Mobility support for ubiquitous cloud computing -Mobile cloud services -Mobile cloud data and storage architectures -Software architecture and design of mobile cloud -Mobile social networking -Applications of mobile vehicular cloud -Context management in ubiquitous mobile cloud -Collaborative mobile cloud computing -Mobile sensing Big Data: paradigms and techniques -Localization mechanisms and algorithms -Computation offloading: strategies and techniques -Performance evaluation of mobile cloud techniques and models -Reliability, availability, and scalability in ubiquitous mobile cloud -Energy and resource optimization in mobile cloud -Quality of Service (QoS) studies -Software defined networks -Privacy and security protections -Virtualization and programming infrastructures Important Dates Submission of research papers due: April 15, 2014 Notification of paper acceptance: April 22, 2014 Submission of camera-ready papers: May 1, 2014 Workshop date: One day between June 27 and July 2, 2014 Paper submission Papers should be written in English. Manuscripts should be no more than 8 pages, double column, IEEE style including tables, figures and references. Please use either Word or LaTex templates and instructions provided by IEEE. Papers must be submitted by April 15, 2014. To register and submit paper into the UMC workshop, please follow the instructions of the SERVICES 2014 Submissions (http://www.servicescongress.org/2014/submission.html) and use the UMC 2014 Submission System (http://www.confhub.com/conf.php?id=343). Papers meeting these requirements will be peer-reviewed by at least three independent reviewers, including a TPC member. Papers must present original and unpublished work and should not be currently under review by any other conference or journal. |
