The 24th Neuropharmacology Conference 2014 will be held in Arlington, VA, USA from 13-14 November 2014, under the theme: GABAergic Signaling in Health and Disease.
GABAergic signaling plays a critical role in regulating neuronal development, neuronal plasticity and dynamic network behaviour. GABA receptors are also key clinical targets and disrupted inhibition is implicated in a host of neurological and psychiatric disorders including epilepsy, stroke, neurodegeneration, schizophrenia and depression. Understanding the molecular and cellular events that underpin inhibitory control of neuronal function is therefore central to understanding both brain information processing and brain pathology. The aim of this two-day meeting is to bring together an international group of junior and senior scientists working on GABA and inhibition to discuss the latest findings in the field. World experts will present their most recent discoveries covering a broad array of topics from the formation and plasticity of inhibitory synapses, through to GABA receptor structure and function and regulation by endogenous and exogenous modulators. The central role of interneurons for coordinating network behaviour and pathology will also be a key focus. Topics Inhibitory synaptogenesis GABA Receptor Trafficking and Anchoring Plasticity of GABA Receptors Chloride homeostasis: physiology and pathology Anaesthetics, neurosteroids and ethanol: common mechanisms, common targets? Parvalbumin (+) interneuropathies in neurological and psychiatric disorders Interneurons: coordinators of neuronal synchrony Abstract submission deadline – 27 June 2014 Submit your abstract here: http://www.neuropharmacology-conference.elsevier.com/submit-abstract.html |
