Peer Review, Peer Assessment, and Self Assessment in Education
2nd International Workshop (PRASAE 2015) http://edi.fmph.uniba.sk/prasae2015/ collocated with The 2nd International Conference on Smart Learning Environments (ICSLE 2015) 23-25 September 2015, Sinaia, Romania -- IMPORTANT DATES -- * Abstracts submission: 29 May 2015 * Paper submission: 3 June 2015 * Notification: 17 June 2015 * Camera ready & registration: 1 July 2015 -- WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION -- Methods like peer review, peer assessment and peer tutoring can be beneficial for learners, who can compare and align their knowledge with the others, learn to express themselves, and argue out their opinions. Self assessment, on the other hand, encourages reflection and contributes to key competencies such as accurate self evaluation and work organization. The importance of these strategies has recently increased with their applications in virtual learning environments (VLEs, either Web- or mobile-based), and more recently with the conception of smart learning environments (SLEs) and massive open online courses (MOOCs), where the instructors may be greatly outnumbered by the learners, and thus peer and self feedback may be the only one that is available. The workshop aims to attract researchers established in these areas, as much as any researchers who are interested and want to learn about these topics. The participants will benefit from getting in touch with the community, and they will learn about fundamental issues and latest research results. The workshop will foster discussion, exchange of experience, and joint collaboration. -- WORKSHOP TOPICS -- PRASAE 2015 focuses on innovative learning strategies related to peer- and self-derived feedback: * Peer review and peer assessment * Group assessment and collaborative assessment * Self assessment * Peer tutoring We seek paper submissions considering these learning strategies in education, in contexts such as (but not limited to): * VLEs, MOOCs, web-based learning scenarios, mobile learning, and smart learning environments * Combining such learning strategies with the educational process in schools and universities * Their applications in context of informal and self-driven education * Exploring their relation with social learning and other learning theories * Development and evaluation of pedagogy and didactic methodology for applying such learning strategies * Acceptance, motivation and other psychological aspects of these learning * strategies * Meta assessment and other techniques improving such learning strategies * Analysis and evaluation of learner's outputs from tasks related to these learning strategies * Development of applications and tools supporting tasks related to these learning strategies * Use-cases, evaluation, experience -- SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS -- The workshop seeks submissions of (a) original research results, (b) summaries of own recently published results, (c) surveys of fundamental research papers in this area, (d) position papers discussing relevant open problems and opinions on how to approach them, and (e) demo proposals. The selection of papers will be based on originality and contribution, but also on the potential to bring interesting discussion topics to the workshop. All papers will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 members of the program committee. The review process will be blind but not double-blind (i.e., include the names and affiliation of authors). Accepted papers will be published in the ICSLE 2015 proceedings volume in the Springer LNCS series. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register and present the paper at the conference. The form of presentation (talk or poster) will be decided together with the acceptance, depending on the number of accepted papers (but papers will be included in the proceedings volume regardless of the paper type and presentation form). Papers should be submitted in PDF and formatted according to Springer LNCS Author Guidelines: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=prasae2015 See more information at PRASAE 2015 website: http://edi.fmph.uniba.sk/prasae2015/submission -- WORKSHOP CHAIRS -- * Martin Homola, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia * Zuzana Kubincová, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia -- PROGRAM COMMITTEE -- * Fu-Yuan Chiu, National Hsinchu University of Education, Hsinchu, Taiwan * Veronika Dropčová, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia * Ed Gehringer, North Carolina State University, USA * Samuel Greiff, University of Luxemburg, Luxemburg * María José Hernández Serrano, University of Salamanca, Spain * Michael A.
