An international multidisciplinary conference "Fashion: Model [and] Readers. On the Iconic Representation in Culture" is organized by the University of Lodz and the Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts Lodz.

Its main goal is to merge theoretical and practical views on fashion, textuality and femininity. We would like to invite all the academics whose fields of interest include fashion theory, visual culture, gender studies, anthropology of the body etc. to participate and share their knowledge and experience with other researchers.

We are inviting proposals for paper presentations, which address the fashion model through one of the following themes:
Body and Textuality
Theory of Beauty
Visuality and Visibility of Culture
Language of Fashion
Identity and Gender
Interpenetration of Text and Image
Iconicity and Emblematicity of Culture
Performativity of the Body
Visual Constructions of Identity
The Body as Metaphor
