Special Session on Event Processing for Intelligent Environments 19th International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE'23) Uniciti, Flic-en-Flac, Mauritius 27th-30th June, 2023 *************************************************************************** Website: https://ie2023.mdxmru.com/call-for-special-sessions/ Key dates: - Paper submission deadline extension: 15th December 2022 - Notification to authors: 20th February 2023 - Camera-ready deadline: 30th March 2023 OVERVIEW The rise of the Internet of Things has led to the generation of a vast amount of data that can be processed to pave the way to use intelligent environments in a large number of domains. Such data, understood as events occurred in the domain in question, should be processed as quickly and efficiently as possible. The use of software engineering and technologies for dealing with this volume of events in real-time is necessary to allow the detection of situations of interest in different application domains, scenarios and case studies for Smart Cities, Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things, among others. This has led to the emergence of a variety of software engineering techniques, software architectures, tools and applications as well as to the integration of different paradigms, development methodologies and business process management along with machine and deep learning techniques for this purpose. OBJECTIVES AND TOPICS The main aim of this special session is to attract current research and proposals on any possible topic related to event processing for intelligent environment in smart cities, Internet of Things and other related areas, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Smart Cities - Industry 4.0 - Internet of Things - Tools and Applications - Case Studies and Practical Experiences - Software Engineering - Machine Learning - Deep Learning - Event-driven Architectures - Microservice Architectures - Business Processes - Development Methodologies SUBMISSION Authors are invited to submit original, previously unpublished research papers. Papers should be written in English strictly following IEEE template guidelines for Conference Proceedings (see https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html), with a limit of 8-page length (full paper) or 4-page length (short paper). Please, submit papers via Easychair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ie2023) and select the "IE2023 SS - Event Processing for Intelligent Environments" track.
