Trends in the area of computer graphics and interactive techniques aspire tools that support content creation and manipulation. Contributions to computer graphics such as 2D or 3D modeling, animation, rendering and imaging along with the emerging interactive techniques open up a broad space for developing specialized platforms that promote creativity, design, discovery, innovation, and composition. The SIGGRAPH Asia Workshop on Designing Tools for Crafting Interactive Artifacts aims at aspiring ideas on creativity support tools for multisensory or interactive content creation, including design, evaluation and theoretical implications. The workshop also provides a platform for discussions on the challenges and the subsequent research opportunities in developing such tools.

We invite submissions evolving around three main themes. Topics for each theme include but are not limited to:
1) Design Implications for creativity support tools
§ Design guidelines for domain specific creativity support tools
§ Interaction techniques with creativity support tools
§ Design challenges Target user groups
§ User interface design addresses needs of amateurs and/or experts
§ Goal and task-specific design constraints
§ Supporting collaboration on creativity support platforms
§ Challenges facing tool designers
2) Implications to evaluation and research methods
§ End-user experiences
§ Measures and criteria for evaluating creativity
3) Theoretical implications to creativity support tools
§ Taxonomy for creativity support tool
§ Cognitive model for user creativity in traditional artwork and new media art
§ Mechanisms that promote creative behaviors

Submission
Submissions must be original, unpublished work, written and presented in English, and will undergo a peer-review process and be accepted based on novelty and quality. Papers should be a 2-4 page PDF prepared according to the ACM SIGGRAPH publication guidelines. A link to a video (not mandatory but highly encouraged, up to 5 minutes) of an artifact, tool or service that explains how this work relates to the workshop and the questions, opportunities, or challenges it introduces. Papers will be presented as short talks with plenty of time for demos and discussion. The proceedings of each workshop will be included in the ACM Digital Library.
At least one author of each accepted workshop paper is to register for both SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 (full conference pass) and the workshop by 15 September 2014, and give a presentation at the workshop. To recognize the contribution of workshop paper presenters, the presenters can apply for a 25% discount per accepted paper submission.
