CALL FOR PAPERS
SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 Workshop on Creative Shape Modeling and Design held in conjunction with ACM SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 Shenzen, China - 3 December 2014 The deadline for paper submissions is extended to 15 August 2014. You can submit a paper through Easy Chair Submission Page: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=csmd2014 The aim of this one-day workshop in conjunction with SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 is to bring together researchers from diverse backgrounds with a common interest in computational aspects of creative shape modeling and design. Interest in this emerging topic may stem from a variety of reasons, e.g., understanding computational processes underlying creativity on one extreme or purely industrial concerns for designing cost and energy saving products and living spaces on the other extreme. During the workshop there will be several invited talks by leading researchers. We plan to bring together people from architectural and industrial design communities with people from computer graphics, machine-learning, and mathematical imaging and vision communities to create a synergy between inverse and forward modeling of shape with a focus on creativity. We call for high quality works on computer graphics and related areas that focus on creative modeling and design of 2D or 3D objects and creative design analysis. Novel ideas and results are highly welcome even if they are at a preliminary stage. We are also interested in papers that discuss existing techniques applied in a novel context. Submissions should conform to ACM SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 proceedings style with up to 8 pages. Papers must be original, unpublished work, written and presented in English and they will be submitted online through the Easy Chair submission system. Authors of selected papers which appear in the workshop will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers to the journal Graphical Models. The proceedings of the workshop will be included in the ACM Digital Library. Some specific problems of interest include, but are not limited to: Content/style separation Characterizations and measures for compact and adaptable 3D designs Characterizations and measures of symmetry Functionality and style analysis of shapes Structure of ornaments Shape grammars Generative models of shapes and designs Inverse problems for graphics and design Deep hierarchies for design objects Architectural design Graphical interfaces for creative design PROGRAM CHAIRS Hao (Richard) Zhang, Simon Fraser University, Canada Sibel Tari, Middle East Technical University, Turkey TIMELINE Deadline for paper submissions: 15 August 2014 Notification of acceptance: 31 August 2014 Camera-ready copy of papers: 15 September 2014 |
