CALL FOR PAPERS
SIMULATION MODELLING PRACTICE AND THEORY SPECIAL ISSUE ON Agent-based Modelling and Simulation SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 31, 2017 (extended) http://ees.elsevier.com/simpat THEME: The usage of agent-based techniques for the modelling and simulation of many different kinds of systems has much increased over the last decades. Agent-based modelling is now being used for the study of many areas spanning technical, human, social, behavioral, cultural, physical and biological systems. The research work on this field has involved both the theoretical study of agent-based systems and the issues related to the implementation of efficient frameworks to support the evaluation of agent-based models. More in detail, the last years have seen a widespread adoption of cloud-based and GPU/multi-core/many-core infrastructures that need to be specifically supported by the simulation frameworks. The scope of this special issue is to present the state-of-the-art research covering a variety of concepts on: i) agent-based modelling, ii) agent-based simulation, iii) engineering of agent-based systems. Furthermore, it also aims to provide future trends and directions on the many interactions between the usage of agents and simulation-based techniques. This special issue also targets subjects on design, implementation and performance analysis of agent-based simulators that run on top of large-scale cloud infrastructures and GPU/multi-core/many-core execution units. Papers for the Special Issue must provide substantial novel contribution, and authors must carefully situate their work considering the relevant scientific literature. They must clearly address research issues of “agent-based modelling and simulation” and show the role of agents in the modelling and simulation state of the art. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Agent-based modelling (ABM) * Agent-based simulation (ABS) * Parallel and distributed agent-based simulations * Engineering of agent-based systems * Agent-based modelling and simulation software * GPU/multi-core/many-core agent-based frameworks * Agent-based simulations tools, techniques and environments * Verification and validation of agent-based modelling and simulation * Multi-agent systems * Crowd simulation * Agent in games and virtual environments SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Manuscripts should be submitted online through the Elsevier Editorial System (EES) at the following link: http://ees.elsevier.com/simpat. Authors must select “SI:Special Issue: AgentsSim” when they reach the "Article Type" step in the on-line submission process. Submitted manuscripts should present original contributions and must not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers will be peer reviewed according to the high standards of the Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory Elsevier journal. Please feel free to contact the Guest Editor for any questions. IMPORTANT DATES: - Manuscript submission deadline: May 31, 2017 (extended) - Manuscript reviews to authors: July 31, 2017 - Manuscript revision due: September 30, 2017 - Final notification of acceptance: November 30, 2017 - Final manuscript submission deadline: December 31, 2017 SPECIAL ISSUE EDITOR: Gabriele D’Angelo Department of Computer Science and Engineering University of Bologna, Italy Email: g.dangelo@unibo.it |
