Call For Papers

Department of International Relations, Bina Nusantara University in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of International Relations Studies (Asosiasi Ilmu Hubungan Internasional Indonesia (AIHII) proudly announce the 3rd International Conference on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD) 2014. ICOBIRD is an annual conference that has been successful to accommodate discourse on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy in Indonesia since 2012. This year, ICOBIRD covers issue of regional integration in Southeast Asia with the grand theme: “ASEAN Community 2015: Regional Opportunities and Challenges”

The Association of Southeast Asia Nations (Hereafter ASEAN) will be fully integrated into ASEAN Community in 2015. It has three main pillars, namely ASEAN Political-Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. To establish a solid community, ASEAN’s member countries still facing various regional opportunities and challenges in the context of political security, economic and socio-cultural dimensions. Further, ASEAN interactions with countries outside the region have significant political and economic influence in world affairs. Thus, this conference aims to address regional opportunities and challenges toward the establishment of ASEAN Community 2015.

The 3rd ICOBIRD 2014 plans to invite three speakers from various backgrounds. First, we will invite scholar from Southeast Asia country that mastering issue on ASEAN. Second, we expect to gain in-depth point of view from ASEAN Secretariat about regional opportunities and challenges toward ASEAN Community 2015. Last, we also expect to achieve an assessment about Indonesia’s position and point of view in ASEAN from the representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia. The combination of these invited speakers will give more insightful discussion on the issue of regional integration in Southeast Asia.

This year, the committee also plans to submit the articles that have good and proper quality to be published in international journal. First, publication on Journal of ASEAN Studies (JAS) which is published by the Centre for Business and Diplomatic Studies (CBDS) Department of International Relations, Bina Nusantara University. Second, publication on Journal of Management Science and Statistical Decision which is published by Cheng Shiu University and Bina Nusantara University. Last, publication on indexed-scopus journal.

The 3rd ICOBIRD 2014 will take place from 1st – 2nd September 2014 in Anggrek Campus, Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta. We welcome scholars, government officers, business groups, non-governmental organizations, and students to send their manuscripts and join our 3rd ICOBIRD 2014. See you in Jakarta!
