Call for Papers: IEEE International Conference on Program Comprehension
(ICPC 2015) https://dibt.unimol.it/ICPC15/Home.html

May 18-19, 2015, Florence, Italy.

Co-located with ICSE'15.

=== Scope and Vision ===

The IEEE International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC) is the
principal venue for works in the area of program comprehension, and it
promises to provide a quality forum for researchers and practitioners from
academia, industry, and government to present and to discuss
state-of-the-art results and best practices in the field of program
comprehension.

The 2015 edition of the International Conference on Program Comprehension
(ICPC) will be held in Florence (Italy) co-located with the 37th
International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE'15). A special issue
based on selection of best papers from ICPC 2015 will be published in
Springer’s Journal of Empirical Software Engineering (EMSE).

=== Call for papers ===

*Technical Research Track*

The research track of ICPC 2015 promises to provide a quality forum for
researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to
present and to discuss state-of-the-art results and best practices in the
field of program comprehension. Topics of interest include but are not
limited to

- Cognitive theories for program comprehension, including experiments
and case studies;
- Individual, team, collaborative, distributed, and adversarial program
comprehension;
- Comprehension of specific types of software systems, such as web-based
systems, open source, mash-ups, legacy systems, product lines, and systems
of systems;
- Comprehension in the context of diverse software process models and
specific lifecycle activities, such as: maintenance, reengineering,
migration, security, auditing, and testing;
- Novel interfaces to support program comprehension, including
searching, browsing and visualization;
- Empirical evaluations of program comprehension tools, techniques, and
approaches;
- Comprehension and legal issues, such as due diligence, intellectual
property, reverse engineering, and litigation;
- Issues and case studies in the transfer of program comprehension
technology to industry;
- Tool support for program comprehension.

*Important Dates*

- Abstract Submission: January 19th, 2015
- Paper Submission: January 26th, 2015
- Author Notification: March 9th, 2015
- Camera Ready: March 30th, 2015

*Early Research Achievement Track*

The goal of the Early Research Achievements (ERA) Track is to provide
researchers and practitioners with a forum for presenting great, promising
ideas in early stages of research. Ideally, the ICPC ERA Track seeks papers
challenging the status quo of program comprehension with new research
directions and provocative ideas. The ERA track is the perfect place for a
paper that aims to set the agenda for a new line of research and a series
of future papers. In principle, this track addresses the same topics of
interest as those of the Technical Research Track. ERA submissions are
intended to describe a single and well-defined idea at an early stage of
investigation. As opposed to regular research papers, ERA papers are not
intended to serve as a vehicle for the dissemination of research results.
Submissions to the ERA track should describe research in progress. Ideally,
ERA authors will combine research topics in new ways, establish connections
to other fields outside of classical program comprehension, as well as
argue for the importance of program-comprehension research in new areas.

*Important Dates*

- Paper Submission: February 20th, 2015
- Author Notification: March 15th, 2015
- Camera Ready: March 30th, 2015

*Tool Demonstration Track*

The Tool Demo track provides a valuable opportunity for live presentations
of industry-strength tools, academic prototypes or fully developed products
being prepared for commercialization, as long as the demo focuses on the
research-related aspects of the tool. We especially encourage tool
demonstration proposals that complement full technical papers. Whereas a
technical paper is intended to give the background information and point
out the scientific contribution of a new program comprehension approach, a
Tool Demo track submission provides a unique opportunity to show how the
scientific approach has been transferred into a working prototype. Any of
the conference topics of interest are appropriate areas for tool
demonstrations.

*Important Dates*

- Abstract Submission: February 16th, 2015
- Paper Submission: February 20th, 2015
- Author Notification: March 15th, 2015
- Camera Ready: March 30th, 2015
