In order for nano-scale devices to perform complicated tasks, they can form nanonetworks consisting of several nanodevices communicating and cooperating with each other. Electromagnetic (EM) communication has been suggested as one of the possible approaches for the communication among nanodevices. Examples of the proposed EM communication approaches include communication in the very high frequency (VHF) (30–300 MHz) band with receivers using mechanically oscillating carbon nanotubes (nanotube radio) and communication in the THz band (0.1–10 THz) with receivers using (for example) Graphene-based Plasmonic Nano antennas. This special issue is dedicated to all aspects of EM communication in nano-scale (not limited to VHF and THz bands).

In particular, the topic of interest includes but is not limited to:
- Antennas and propagation for nanocommunications
- Noise models for nanoscale EM communication
- Modelling and analysis of time-varying THz channels
- Human tissue properties at THz frequencies
- Numerical modelling techniques for THz electromagnetics
- Modeling, analysis, and simulation of EM communication
- Computer simulations of nanonetworks (with multiple nodes) using EM communication
- Novel applications of EM nanosensor networks
- Nanonetworks with mixed band EM communication (such as both THz & VHF)
- Energy harvesting nanodevices with EM communication
- Modulation, coding, medium access control and routing methods for nanoscale EM communication

Submission Format and Guideline
All submitted papers must be clearly written in excellent English and contain only original work, which has not been published by or is currently under review for any other journal or conference. Papers must not exceed 25 pages (one-column, at least 11pt fonts) including figures, tables, and references. A detailed submission guideline is available as “Guide to Authors” at:
www.journals.elsevier.com/nano-communication-networks

All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted through Elsevier Editorial System (EES). The authors must select as “SI:EMCOM” when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process. The EES website is located at:
http://ees.elsevier.com/nanocomnet/

All papers will be peer-reviewed by three independent reviewers. Requests for additional information should be addressed to the guest editors.
