As people are travelling to an unprecedented extent, we now encounter foreign cultures both home and abroad. We currently live in a global network where spatial, linguistic and cultural mobility is reshaping our identity. This international conference aims to explore mobility from an interdisciplinary perspective, addressing the role of travel and/as intercultural communication.
We welcome theoretical and applied research papers in English dealing with issues of cultural diversity, linguistic and cultural exchange engendered by travel texts and practices, with a possible focus on travel to and representations of the East, for the following conference tracks: Literature and language studies Cultural and anthropological studies Film, drama and media studies Intercultural communication and translation studies Social and political studies History and archeology Please submit a 200-word abstract at entice@linguaculture.ro by April 10, 2015. This is a two-day conference with a limited number of participants and no registration fee; participants will be selected based on their submitted abstract. Final papers will be published in indexed conference proceedings with an international publisher. This conference is organised by the Department of English at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania as part of the project “East-North Travel and Intercultural Communication in Europe” (ENTICE), carried out in partnership with Østfold University College, Norway and funded from the EEA and Norway Grants.
