*********************************************************************************** CALL FOR PAPERS IEEE CloudNA 2016 The Second IEEE International Workshop on Cloud-based Networks and Applications http://www.ieee-cloudna.org To be held in conjunction with The 41th IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks 7-10 November 2016, Dubai, UAE Submission Deadline: June 6, 2016 (extended) *********************************************************************************** The IEEE CloudNA 2015 will be a one-day workshop and will include a keynote speech. The workshop will bring together researchers, engineers, and practitioners from academia, industry and government to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art research and practice in the emerging area of cloud-based networks and applications. All submissions will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be included in the IEEE LCN 2015 proceedings and published in IEEE Xplore. *SCOPE* This workshop solicits unpublished research work related to the latest challenges, technologies, solutions and techniques pertaining to networking within the cloud datacenter and to the efficient and effective cloud deployment and hosting of the various emerging applications and services. The SLO requirements and end-to-end performance of cloud-hosted applications and services can be highly impacted by the underlying networking technologies and architectures adopted within the datacenter. Moreover, co-located services and the cloud network utilization can highly impact the performance of new services and applications to be deployed and provisioned. Effective solutions related to the placement, sizing, bursting, and migration of compute, storage, and data resources within the cloud network(s) become critical to the deployment of elastic and agile applications. *TOPICS OF INTEREST* You are invited to submit original technical papers covering (but not limited to the following topics): . Cloud datacenter architecture and networking . Network function virtualization . SDN-enabled cloud datacenters . Cloud-based services for IoT and smart cities . Virtual private cloud networking . Intra and inter-cloud networking . Deployment of cloud apps and services . Big Data application provisioning on the cloud . Cloud bursting techniques . Scalability and elasticity techniques . Containers vs. VMs . Running applicaitons within containers . Placement and migration of cloud resources within the cloud . Impact of network utilization and co-located applications on performance . Cloud resource management and capacity engineering . Green networking in cloud datacenters . Trust, security and privacy in the cloud *PAPER SUBMISSION* Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, previously unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, or a journal. Full papers (up to 8 camera-ready pages, 10pt font in IEEE format) should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the workshop. Accepted papers are published in IEEE LCN proceedings and IEEE Xplore. All papers must include title, complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and keywords on the cover page. IEEE reserves the right to remove papers from IEEE Xplore that are not presented at the workshop. Papers must be registered on EDAS and submitted in PDF format. Detailed submission instructions are available at the workshop website. *WORKSHOP CHAIR* Khaled Salah Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, UAE *STEERING COMMITTEE* Raouf Boutaba, University of Waterloo, Canada Mohamed Younis, University of Maryland Baltimore County, USA Mazin Yousif, T-Systems International, USA *TECHNICAL PROGRAM COMMITTEE* Raafat Aburukba, American Univeristy of Sharjah, UAE Ejaz Ahmed, University of Malaya, Malaysia Ashiq Anjum, University of Derby, UK Chadi Assi, Concordia University, Canada Abir Awad, Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland Irfan Awan, University of Bradford, UK Muhammad Ajmal Azad, INESC and FEUP, Portugal Joon Sang Baek, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, UAE Mehdi Bahrami, University of California, USA Abdelghani Benharref, University of Wollongong in Dubai, UAE Salim Bitam, University of Biskra, Algeria Seyed Buhari, King Abdul Aziz University, KSA Prasad Calyam, University of Missouri-Columbia, USA Antonio Cianfrani, University of Roma "La Sapienza", Italy Ernesto Damiani, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, UAE Saptarshi Debroy, University of Missouri-Columbia, USA Khalid Elgazzar, Carnegie Mellon University, USA Khalid Elbadawi, University of Khartoum, Sudan Ernesto Exposito, University of Toulouse, France Leila Ismail, United Arab Emirates University, UAE Chetan Jaiswal, University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA Muhammad Khurran Khan, King Saud University, KSA Ibrahim Korpeoglu, Bilkent University, Turkey Rami Langar, UPMC - Sorbonne Universite, France Peter Mueller, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, Switzerland Hadi Otrok, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, UAE Enrique Chirivella Perez, University of the West of Scotland, UK Gregorio Martinez Perez, University of Murcia, Spain James Pope, Goeorge Mason University, USA Jawwad Shamsi, National University FAST, Pakistan Tarek Sheltami, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, KSA Rafael Tolosana, Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain Zouheir Trabelsi, United Arab Emirates University, UAE *IMPORTANT DATES* Paper Submission: June 6, 2016 (extended) Notification of Acceptance: July 25, 2016 Camera-Ready Paper: August 15, 2016 |
