CFP: State-of-the-Art Reports (STARS)
EuroVis 2015 is the 17th annual scientific gathering on visualization jointly organized by the Eurographics Working Group on Data Visualization and the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee. Based on the continued growth and success of the event, EuroVis will be a conference for the fourth time. EuroVis 2015 will be held in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, May 25-29, 2015. For the second time, EuroVis 2015 features a State-of-the-Art Report (STAR) track. State-of-the-Art Reports (STARs) are intended to provide up-to-date and comprehensive surveys on topics of interest to the visualization research community. We encourage the submission of STARs on topics that have not yet been covered in any recent previous STAR. We welcome submissions that introduce emerging technologies, as well as proposals on more traditional visualization topics. We also welcome contributions from related disciplines and application areas demonstrating contributions to or benefits from the area of visualization including, but not limited to: Visual Computing, Computer Graphics, Human-Computer Interaction, Photogrammetry, Virtual Reality, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Psychology, Geography, Chemistry, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Data Analysis, Computational Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Economy, Politology, etc. Important Dates The submission deadline is 23:59GMT, Friday January 16th, 2015. STARs Submission: Friday, 16/Jan/2015 Notification: Monday, 2/Mar/2015 Please see the important dates page (http://www.eurovis2015.it/for-submitters/important-dates) for more details. Submission Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of the contribution quality and topic suitability for presentation in a STAR format, the past experience and qualifications of the authors and the overall balance in the program. A STAR submission should be an almost complete version of the planned STAR, outlining the topic, documenting its relation and relevance to the visualization community, including a planned table of contents and a major subset of the targeted literature references, as well as including brief biographies of the authors, demonstrating their qualification to produce the proposed STAR. Such a proposal should be 10-20 pages (at most) in length, including references; submissions can also include supplementary material. For detailed paper preparation and submission instructions please refer to the guidelines in the submitters area (http://www.eurovis2015.it/for-submitters/) of the conference web pages. Formatting Instructions Submissions are limited to a maximum of 20 pages (including bibliography). Authors should prepare their submissions as a PDF file using the EuroVis 2015 LaTeX2e style (including a document class, a style file, a sample source file, and a corresponding PDF output file). Submissions can also include supplementary material (in case of videos please use only the most common video codecs to maximize the chances that the reviewers can see it). Contributions must be written in English. LaTeX2e Style: http://www.eurovis2015.it/eurovis2015-repo/egPublStyle-EuroVis2015-STAR.zip Author Guidelines A state-of-the-art report submitted to EuroVis 2015 must be original, unpublished work. Any work that has previously been published or simultaneously been submitted in a substantially similar form to any other conference or journal will be rejected. Contributions must be presented in English. At EuroVis 2015, the authors of a STAR will invited to present the report at a level that also allows non-experts in the particular domain to follow their presentation. We plan to schedule each STAR as a 60-90 minute presentation as in Eurographics conferences (subject to the schedule management of the EuroVis 2015 program). In any circumstance, a STAR presentation will always be given a longer time slot than that for a full paper. Authors will be encouraged to subsequently submit the STAR as a regular contribution to Computer Graphics Forum journal.
