The symposium aims to provide an opportunity for scholars, researchers, and industry practitioners to interact, exchange ideas, show live demonstrations, and discuss topics regarding online gaming and the dynamics of player interactions. Online games have become a prevalent platform attracting millions of players to compete, collaborate, and socialize with one another in a virtual environment. Due to the rich and complex natures, online games serve as a perfect environment for studying various social phenomenons and economic activities. Advances in knowledge of player interaction behaviors will help improve designing game mechanics and dynamics as well as user experience.

The symposium will be a special track within the Third International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo'11) held within Singapore Management University campus. All relevant information can be found at the conference website (http://www.sis.smu.edu.sg/SocInfo2011).

Topics of interest
Topics of interest for the symposium include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Dynamics of social groups in online games
- Temporal evolution of interaction networks among players
- Economic analysis of in-game activities and transactions
- Modeling and analysis of player behaviors
- Methods to detect anomalous behaviors and deviant players
- Prediction of player performance and strategies
- Formal approaches to design and development of online games
- Efficient methods for collecting and storing a large volume of in-game data
- Novel mining algorithms for analyzing in-game data

We encourage interested authors to contributing research papers, posters and demonstration papers to the Symposium by submitting to SocInfo'11. The papers, posters and demonstrations will be reviewed by the program committee of the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the SocInfo'11 conference proceedings to be published by Springer's Lecture Note Series in Computer Science (LNCS). Please refer to the submission instructions (http://www.sis.smu.edu.sg/SocInfo2011/cfp.html).
