Call For Papers

Being the first specialized conference on Literature and Cinema, this conference aims to attract the attention of scholars and readers from different countries in order to exchange professional ideas and give critical comments on the diversity, versatility, and global facet of cinema using literary adaptations. The beginnings of cinema in the early 1900's gradually led to a close affiliation between literature and cinema. Cinema and literature although very different are yet related to one another and cinema can now play a pivotal role in the popularization of literary texts, novels or plays. Not only modern and postmodern literature has been a source of topic and theme for the cinema, but even ancient writings, in particular stories from the Bible, mythology, have also been widely used by film directors. The conference subtitles should give opportunity to all scholars and admirers of both literature and cinema
Your topic should be related but not limited to the following:

Cinema and political discourse
Film and literary adaptations, like novel and drama
Cinema and post-modern literature
Authenticity of texts in cinema
Alterations and variations carried out by film directors
Use of cinematic techniques in popularization of literature
Portrayal of women in literary adaptations-distortion or sincere portrayal?
Costumes and disguise
Language and cinema
History of cinema and its parallel representation in literature
Comparative analysis of one text in several languages and cinematic representation
Cultural theories and its reflection on cinema

Venue: Faculty of foreign languages and literatures, north karegar, between street no. 15 and 16, Tehran, Iran

Dates: 3rd and 4th February
Deadline for abstracts: November 22nd
Acceptance of abstracts:16th December
Length: Abstracts should mention the topic and should be approximately 250-300 words, also kindly send a bio data of approximately 100 words.
