Call For Papers

Workshop title: 1st IEEE International Workshop on Digital and Connected Health (DCH 2016)
http://staging.computer.org/web/compsac2016/dch

Important Dates:
March 6, 2016: Workshop papers due
March 28, 2016: Workshop paper notifications
April 7, 2016: Camera ready and registration due

Goal of the workshop:
The workshop aims to create a platform for dissemination and sharing of knowledge in the converging fields of point of care technologies and data science for healthcare process improvement. This workshop aims to enhance the opportunities of collaboration among healthcare researchers and harbor new innovations of translational research in the areas of mobile healthcare, smart homes, and point of care technologies. We plan to bring together technology experts, researchers, industry and international authorities working towards the design, development and deployment of healthcare solutions based on smart technologies, standards and procedures to positively impact the healthcare delivery system.

Workshop theme:
Healthcare is going through transformative changes as the landscape shifts towards value based service from fee-for-service approach. New challenges including aging population, rising costs and regulatory requirements are driving innovations in healthcare. The emergence of new technologies such as wearable sensors, ubiquitous connectivity and data science are fuelling growth in this rapid innovation. Unlike other areas, innovation in healthcare is highly interdisciplinary with inputs from practicing clinicians, engineers, computer scientists, social scientists and systems engineers, among others. The main theme of the workshop focuses on applications of mobile/computer/smart technologies including machine learning, data science, wearable computing along with other stake holders in improving healthcare delivery for cost effective value-based-service.

Scope of the workshop:
The workshop invites papers from researchers across the world from various disciplines addressing complex healthcare problems in the areas of digital data processing, predictive modelling and visualization for clinical decision making, privacy and security in care delivery process, new algorithms and systems for big data analysis in healthcare, industrial engineering approaches in healthcare and data driven decision making systems. The key areas include, but not limited to,
• Predictive modelling for clinical decision making
• System engineering in healthcare
• Cognitive computing for clinical decision making
• Community engagement from care providers
• Security and privacy for monitoring devices
• Safety, risk and benefit of medical devices and algorithms
• Wearable sensor system
• Network communications for health sensor data
• Cloud technologies for healthcare
• Wellness and health management applications
• Data mining of health data
• Interoperability and standardization issues in healthcare
• Operational research issues in healthcare
