Call For Papers

The theory and practice of politics is becoming increasingly challenging in an era of upheavals across the globe. Established ways of thinking are constantly being challenged, attempts to innovate are often falling short, and policy is struggling to meet reality. Facing such a watershed moment, we welcome proposals for papers and presentations from across different disciplines to engage with the conference theme and help interrogate the nature of politics in this volatile world. The conference will be a day-long event, featuring a keynote from Chris Brown, Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics, on “Sovereignty and Human Rights in a Non-Western World”.

The streams for proposals are:
(i) Global order and international relations
(ii) Political theories and ideologies
(iii) Governance, democracy and human security
(iv) European and comparative politics

We also welcome abstracts that do not fit directly within the theme and streams. Please include a title, a 250-300 word abstract, name, institutional affiliation, and proposed stream, and send your proposal to notts.conf2016@gmail.com by 6 May 2016. Applicants will be informed of final decisions by 22 May 2016. We will respond to all applicants.
