Call For Papers

Second International Workshop on Situated Computing for Pervasive Environments (SCOPE-2011)

http://www.derby.ac.uk/computing/research/scope2011

in conjunction with the
2nd International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies
http://voyager.ce.fit.ac.jp/~eidwt2011/
September 7-9, 2011, Tirana

Organisers:
Nik Bessis, University of Derby, UK (n.bessis@derby.ac.uk)
Fatos Xhafa, Technical University of Catalonia, Spain (fatos@lsi.upc.edu)

Aims and Scope
Following the overwhelming success of the first International Workshop on Situated Computing for Pervasive Environments (SCOPE-2011a), the second in the series (SCOPE-2011b) is also dedicated to the dissemination of original works that are related to the theories of emerging paradigms yet most importantly of their applicability towards autonomous adaptation to complex environments caused from highly dynamic user contexts. In particular, SCOPE-2011 will discuss advances in situated and pervasive computing, that is to say about computing devices having the autonomous ability of adapting, detecting, interpreting and responding to the user’s future smart environment. Future smart systems increasingly require advanced networks, middleware and interfaces for enabling collaborative technologies, distributed computing and intelligent systems provide an autonomous pervasive environment satisfying user needs.

Topics
Topics of interest include (but not limited to):

* Autonomous Adaptation
* Changing Network Environments
* Distributed Environments, Crowd and Collaborative Computing
* User Needs, Interfaces and Complex Environments
* Middleware for Pervasive Network Computing
* Middleware and Information Security in Pervasive Network Computing
* Wireless Pervasive Network Computing
* Sensor and Robots Networks in Pervasive Network Computing
* Smart Environments and Ambient Intelligence
* Transparency, Locality and Scalability Issues in Middleware for Pervasive Network Computing
* Interfaces and Methods for Interconnection of Heterogeneous Networks and Devices
* Programming Interfaces for Smart Environments
* Database Access Middleware and Database Interface Layering for Sensor Networks
* Intelligent Query Languages and Interfaces for Pervasive Network Computing
* New Interactive Styles (of Human Computer Interaction) in Pervasive Network Computing

International Workshop Program Committee (TBC)

Instruction for Authors
Submitted papers of between 4-6 pages long must be original and not submitted for publication elsewhere. Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts following the IEEE Conference Proceedings Manuscript style: two columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 font size, and number each page. You can find instructions for authors how to format the IEEE CS proceedings manuscripts, at the following web page:

http://www.computer.org/portal/site/cscps

All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two or more independent referees of the International Workshop Program Committee and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit, originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. The papers should be submitted electronically via the EIDWT-2011 submission system. Details are available from:

http://voyager.ce.fit.ac.jp/~eidwt2011/submission.html

Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Conference Publishing Services (CPS) and archived in the Digital Library. Previous proceedings of the PARELEC conferences are available on the IEEE website (www.ieee.org, Xplore service, only abstracts are free).
