CALL FOR PAPERS
============================================================================ Third International Workshop on “Emergency Management: Communication and Computing Platforms” Co-Located with the 7th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC 2011) http://iwcmc.com July 5-8, 2011, Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul, Turkey ============================================================================ Aims and Scope The Third International Workshop on “Emergency Management: Communication and Computing Platforms” will be held in conjunction with IWCMC 2011. The International Workshop on “Emergency Management: Communication and Computing Platforms” provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to present their latest research findings in Computer and communication technologies in Emergency Management. In this workshop, we explore fundamental questions regarding the modern approach to emergency management, taking into accounts the advantages of modern elaboration architectures. In particular the joint approach of grid computing and heterogeneous networking represent one of the most interesting approaches for managing emergency situations. Areas of Interest The areas of interest for International Workshop on “Emergency Management: Communication and Computing Platforms” include, but are not limited to, the following: • Autonomic Computing and Networking • Cognitive radio • Cognitive Networking • Integration of communication and computing • Wireless Metropolitan and Wide Area Networks (WiMAX, LTE, TETRA) • Satellite Communications • Wireless Local Area Networks (WiFi) • Wireless Personal and Sensor Networks (LR-WPAN, UWB, Bluetooth) • Mesh and Ad-hoc Networks (MANET, VANET) • Heterogeneous networking • Software Defined Radio • Communication Security • MAC/Network protocols • Physical layer techniques • Localization techniques • Mobile and pervasive computing • Context awareness • Disaster forecasting • Search and rescue • Risk management • Demo and field trials The purpose of this workshop is to stimulate the study of joint approaches to computing and communication for managing complex situations with a particular focus on emergency management. Submission Guidelines Prospective authors are invited to submit technical papers electronically through EDAS (http://edas.info/). More information can be found at the conference website (http://iwcmc.org). Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers—up to 6 pages of length, using the EDAS link: http://edas.info/N9425 and select the “Emergency Management” Workshop for possible publication in the IWCMC 2011 Conference Proceedings, which will be included in ACM/IEEE Digital Library (pending approval). Selected papers will be further considered for possible publication in three special issues in the following Journals: 1. Wiley Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (WCMC) • http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/76507157/home 2. The International Journal of Sensor Networks (IJSNet) • http://www.inderscience.com/browse/index.php?journalCODE=ijsnet 3. The International Journal of Autonomous and Adaptive Communications Systems (IJAACS): • http://www.inderscience.com/ijaacs There will also be best paper awards, one best symposium award, and one best Workshop award.
