This special section aims to further practical information systems that can leverage various log data, regarding the so-called Big Data era. In this era, the vast amount of various logs appears on an everyday basis. Examples of those include Lifelog and Weblog articles stored in daily life, and also include customer purchase history stored for business use. Leveraging such log data can be considered a key research topic towards a better information society. We welcome submissions of research papers on a wide variety of techniques (e.g., log-data processing, data sharing, and anonymization) not only for office information systems, but also for any practical log-based applications. 1. Scope Possible topics include, but are not limited to: * Lifelog (Log processing, Data analysis, Application software, etc.) * Office model (Business process modeling, Business process re-engineering (BPR), Information sharing, XML, Document structure, Document processing, Workflow, etc.) * Technologies supporting communication and collaboration (E-mail, Groupware, Communication management service (CMS), Blog, Social networking service (SNS), Virtual sharing environment, Virtual office, etc.) * Data mining for extracting useful information on business (Data mining for marketing, Knowledge management, Mail mining, Artificial intelligence, etc.) * System architecture (Web service, Guideline for information systems, Service-oriented architecture (SOA), Web API, RSS, Mashup, Service level agreement (SLA), etc.) * Network (Sensor network, Ubiquitous network, Virtual private network (VPN), P2P, etc.) * Security (Anonymity, User profile handling, Access control, Malware, Spam, Copyright management, etc.) * Human interface (Visualization, Mobile interface, Rich interface, Ajax, etc.) * Business application (Decision Support, Campus information system, Computer telephony integration (CTI), Customer relation management (CRM), Internet connected home appliance, IPTV etc.) 2. The page charges are considerably higher for extra pages. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the guideline in the "Information for Authors". The latest version is available at the web site, Hhttp://www.ieice.org/eng/shiori/mokuji_iss.html. The term for revising the manuscript after acknowledgement of conditional acceptance for this special section could be shorter than that for regular issues (60 days) because of the tight review schedule.
