Call For Papers

Topics
Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) are small flying robotic systems. With their light weight and small size, they form ideal research platforms for a myriad of research fields. The development of MAVs requires knowledge from areas such as electronics, mechanics, aerodynamics, navigation and control, and many more. Thanks to the scientific progress and availability of open-source control systems, research can now also focus on cognitive aspects of MAVs.

There are still numerous scientific challenges to be solved in order to fly Micro Air Vehicles under all flight and weather conditions. The development of miniaturized structures, propulsion and navigation systems, aerodynamics, flight controllers, actuators and sensors are just a few of the current research topics in the field of MAVs.

Other suggested topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas as they relate to MAVs:

- aerodynamics of MAVs
- sense and avoid
- enhanced MAV autonomy
- flapping wing MAVs
- small-sized MAVs
- MAV swarms
- applications of MAVs
- new MAV concepts
- artificial intelligence in MAVs
- computer vision for MAVs
- control system theory and MAVs
- indoor MAV navigation
- outdoor MAV navigation without GPS
- MAV design methodology
- game playing with MAVs
- biologically inspired MAVs

Special issue in the International Journal of Micro Air Vehicles
On the basis of the reviews of the program committee members, a number of papers will be nominated for the best paper award. The authors of these articles will have the opportunity to participate in an expedited review process for a special issue on the IMAV in the International Journal on Micro Air Vehicles: www.multi-science.co.uk/ijmav.htm

Best paper award
After the presentation of the last of the nominated papers, a special committee will select the best paper of the IMAV 2011.

Author instructions
Submitted articles will be subjected to a single-blind review process of the entire article. The maximum length of an article is 8 pages, using the latex style files / Word template
