The scope of the STOCHMOD 2024 meeting includes both theoretical advances in stochastic modelling techniques and relevant applications.
The contribution may lie in the formulation of new stochastic models, in the development of new analytical methods, or in the innovative application of existing models and methods. Topics Theoretical research topics include but are not restricted to stochastic modelling and methods in: Markov decision processes Stochastic processes Robust and multicriteria decision making Queueing theory Simulation Machine learning and data science Game theory and behavior theory Stochastic programming Approximation, heuristic and asymptotic methods in the following applications: Service operations, such as healthcare systems and contact centres Business innovations, such as sharing economy and online market places Social networks and communications systems Biometrics, epidemiology and medical decision making Supply chains and manufacturing/production systems Logistics and transportation Revenue management and pricing Routing, scheduling and resource allocation Economics, financial markets and risk management Energy systems Business and marketing analytics Humanitarian and non-for-profit projects The conference will be held at: Politecnico di Milano, Via Raffaele Lambruschini 4, 20156 Milano, Italy Founded in 1982 on the basis of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and of Construction of Machinery, born in 1951, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the foremost departments of the Politecnico di Milano. Actually, mechanical engineering represents one of the main disciplines as for learning, research, cooperation and exchange with the surrounding area and the industrial sector since the establishment of the Politecnico di Milano. That is the main reason for the Department excellent reputation in its academic context and in the scientific, industrial, national and international one. The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to promote and develop culture, research and innovation in its sectors of reference, but also in new fields doomed to become more and more important in society and in our present background. For example, it specifically deals with transports and sustainable mobility, power technologies, biomechanics and service robotics, bio materials, smart materials and hybrid materials, manufacturing and production systems, space and security. |
