Building on the success of our ongoing seminar series, we are excited to announce this year's Art History & Visual Culture / Modern Languages PGR Conference, "Visions Unveiled" taking place at the University of Exeter on Friday, 14th June 2024.
We welcome submissions that encourage vibrant dialogues in a diverse range of artistic periods, cultures, language complexities, analytical theories, and visual narratives beyond the confines of a specific epoch or geographical setting. Whatever your area of research, we are eager to hear your interpretations of the theme and share your discoveries while unveiling your research visions. We welcome proposals in any format from postgraduate and early career researchers from all disciplines. Potential topics could include, but are not limited to: • Translations across Linguistic, Cultural, and Visual Boundaries • Art, Identity, and Language • Cultural Dialogue Through Art • Digital Art: Reshaping Visual Culture and Contemporary Language • Transcending Borders and Barriers SUBMISSION GUIDELINES We welcome submissions in the following types: • 5 min introductory papers (for students in their first year of research) • 10-15 minute research papers, which may be delivered as standalone papers or form part of a panel of 3 papers • 5-10 minute videos • Artist talk with digital images or physical artefacts discussed • Posters (hosted digitally or in-person) – each submission will be given time to talk through their poster • Workshops • All other innovative formats. If you are interested in presenting at this year’s conference, please submit an expression of interest including a short bio (50 words) to: VisionsUnveiled2024@exeter.ac.uk This expression of interest can be in any form, including: • An abstract (150-200 words) • An introductory 3 minute film • Examples of a visual body of work with a brief description Deadline for submissions: Friday 17th May 2024 We are committed to provide an inclusive and accessible conference experience, offering both in-person and virtual attendance options.
