Call For Papers

The International Workshop on Flexible Software Architecture for Embedded Computing Systems (SARECS) will be held at the 22nd International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA).

SARECS aims to explore the need, design, and application of adaptive software architectures for embedded computing systems. It will bring together researchers and
developers on adaptive software architecture and embedded computing systems as well as related research fields in order to discuss how the software architectures can be made customizable for runtime adaptation, what triggers the architecture adaptation
and how to secure efficiency of the architecture changes. The workshop will also explore cutting-edge techniques to create computing software systems that are more flexible and scalable, as well as practical tools for implementing adaptivity in real-world embedded systems.

Important dates:
- Paper Submission: December 20, 2024
- Notification of Acceptance: January 20, 2025
- Camera-ready Submission: January 27, 2025

Topics: the topics include, but not limited to:
- Dynamic reconfiguration of embedded systems: Techniques and strategies to dynamically adapt software components based on system or environmental changes.
- Self-adaptive systems in embedded computing: Methods for embedding decision-making capabilities to autonomously adapt to operational conditions.
- Architectural patterns for adaptive systems: Exploring design patterns and best practices for modular, scalable and flexible embedded architectures.
- Resource-aware adaptation: Balancing performance and power consumption in resource-constrained embedded systems.
- Real-time constraints and adaptivity: Ensuring reliability and timing guarantees while allowing flexibility in system behavior.
- Application of machine learning in adaptive embedded systems: Leveraging AI for autonomous decision-making and system optimization.
- Quality driven adaptive software systems.

Submission:
We solicit the submission of technical research papers that describe original and significant results of both theoretical and empirical work in flexible software architectures for embedded computing systems. The submissions will be evaluated based on novelty, soundness, significance/relevance, and presentation quality. All submissions must conform to the IEEE paper formatting and submission instructions and must not exceed 6 pages, including figures, tables, appendices, etc.

All papers are to be submitted electronically via the EasyChair submission system (https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=sarecs2025) and must not have been published before or be submitted for review elsewhere while under consideration at SARECS.

The Workshop papers will be published with IEEE in companion proceedings.
