The Workshop on Big Optimization (WBO25) aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to explore the challenges and advancements in solving large-scale, complex optimization problems. The workshop focuses on fostering collaboration across disciplines such as computer science, operations research, artificial intelligence, and applied mathematics.
This workshop emphasizes innovative approaches in heuristics, metaheuristics, and hybrid methods, as well as their applications in big data optimization, high-dimensional problem spaces, and computationally expensive domains. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss emerging trends, share best practices, and identify future research directions in this rapidly evolving field. WBO25 is an inclusive platform, welcoming contributions spanning theoretical foundations, algorithmic developments, real-world applications, and computational frameworks. The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online. Topics of Interest Algorithmic Foundations Heuristics and metaheuristics (genetic algorithms, ant colony, particle swarm, etc.) Hybrid methods combining exact and heuristic approaches Multi-objective optimization and trade-off analysis Optimization under uncertainty and stochastic methods Artificial Intelligence in Optimization Deep learning–assisted optimization Reinforcement learning for optimization problems Large Language Model (LLM) Optimization Computational Techniques & Frameworks Scalable algorithms for large-scale optimization Parallel and distributed techniques Cloud and high-performance computing solutions Applications of Optimization Big data analytics Network design and communication systems Supply chain, logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation Energy management, smart grids, and robotics Healthcare (drug design, hospital scheduling, etc.) Emerging Trends Bio-inspired and nature-inspired optimization methods Quantum computing for optimization Sustainability and climate change The submission and review process will be managed through the Microsoft CMT system. Participants are required to create a Microsoft CMT account (if they do not already have one) to submit their papers. Submissions must be in English, and all papers should follow the prescribed formatting guidelines. Detailed instructions for paper submission, including formatting templates and submission deadlines, will be available on the official workshop website. We invite contributions from all areas of optimization that align with the workshop’s topics. We look forward to receiving your submissions and engaging with you in this exciting event. |
