Call For Papers

BAKEA IX / CALL FOR PAPERS:

The ninth BAKEA (International Western Cultural and Literary Studies Symposium), which was first organized in 2009 by the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Pamukkale University, will be hosted this year by the Departments of French Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, and Russian Language and Literature at Selçuk University. The main theme of this year’s symposium has been entitled “fiction,” with the aim of bringing together theoretical and applied studies from relevant disciplines.
Fiction is an inseparable part of human existence, sustained through the tendency to perceive, design, and express nature through reason, intuition, and emotions. As a fundamental aspect of human existence, fiction is reflected in nearly every domain of human thought and creativity. Particularly as an indispensable element of literature, fiction has led to the emergence of numerous subgenres not only in literature but also across various art forms. Fiction, which is boundless and based on the imagination of writers and artists, forms the foundation of literary and artistic works. The various ways in which fiction manifests itself today have turned this subject into a vast research field within the Humanities. Consequently, studies conducted from different perspectives contribute significantly to both scientific and artistic domains, supporting the emergence of new approaches.
Within this framework, the symposium is open to a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive literary, linguistic, artistic, and cultural studies, as well as individual presentations and group panels related to but not limited to the following topics on fiction:
