The International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI), first held in 2006 in Tokyo, Japan, has since become a global platform for sharing knowledge and solutions to one of the most pressing urban environmental challenges of our time. Over the years, the conference has been hosted at various prestigious locations, including Berkeley (California), Venice (Italy), Singapore, Hyderabad (India), and Melbourne (Australia), gathering experts and stakeholders from diverse fields to explore innovative strategies for mitigating urban heat island (UHI) effects.
As we continue to face the growing challenges posed by urban heat islands, it is clear that an interdisciplinary framework is essential. This approach should integrate insights from diverse fields such as energy, health, building design, urban planning, air quality management, and human studies. By considering the synergies between these disciplines, we can develop more comprehensive and effective solutions.
The 7th International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI 2026), to be held in Nanjing, China promises to be a significant milestone in this ongoing effort.
