Ongoing climate change and the challenges it presents demand highly efficient and environmentally friendly technologies across manufacturing and most human activities. Managing human activities to reduce carbon and energy footprints requires advanced IoT solutions within communications, computing, and sensing technologies, with a wide range of deployment and application scenarios.
This workshop aims to identify challenges and solutions that address environmental issues using sensing technologies, communications, data science, and large language models. These solutions may arise from the integration of these disciplines and corresponding technologies, addressing key areas such as interconnectivity for environmental education, the widespread deployment of sensors and supporting technologies, and techniques for processing large-scale data for meaningful interpretation.
Moreover, the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence, such as large language models, with accessible interfaces is accelerating the integration of communication technologies to tackle global challenges. The communications field has been among the first to embrace these advancements. Here, we aim to highlight the state of the art in leveraging communications and related technologies to address current and future environmental challenges by providing a forum for researchers, practitioners, and interested audiences to meet, discuss and exchange ideas on these topics.
