Sustainability, Circularity & Bioeconomy (SCB) International Conference 2026 Global Synergies in Forestry, Agriculture, and Biomass Utilization 18–20 August 2026 | Quy Nhon, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) https://www.icisequynhon.com/conferences/2026/SCB2026/index.html Overview The inaugural Sustainability, Circularity & Bioeconomy (SCB) Conference 2026 will take place at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), hosted by Rencontres du Vietnam, in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. The 2026 theme, Global Synergies in Forestry, Agriculture, and Biomass Utilization, addresses the increasing global need to integrate sustainable land-use systems, diversify biomass resources, and advance technologies for circular and bio-based value chains, with emphasis on the pulp and paper industry. Vietnam provides a strategically relevant context for this dialogue: The country is a major exporter of wood and non-wood products, has a rapidly evolving agricultural sector, and possesses untapped potential for value-added biomass processing, pulp & paper innovation, and bio-industrial development. The conference brings together researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance solutions that link forest and agricultural systems with emerging bioeconomy pathways. Submission Invitation The Organizing Committee invites high-quality abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Submissions may include empirical research, technological innovations, policy analysis, industrial case studies, or integrated system-level approaches relevant to forestry, agriculture, sustainable materials, and bio-based industries. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee to assemble a balanced program of approximately 20 oral presentations and 30 poster presentations, organized into plenary and thematic sessions. Accepted abstracts will be published in the SCB 2026 Conference Proceedings. Important Dates • 31st May 2026: Abstract submission deadline (maximum 500 words) • 28th June 2026: Notification of acceptance • 30th June 2026: Author confirmation of participation • 30th July 2026: Extended abstract submission (optional, maximum 6,000 words) • 30th July 2026: Submission of presentation slides or poster Submission Guidelines • Abstracts (limited to 500 words) should clearly state the background, research objective, methodology, key findings, and implications. • Please submit abstracts to: https://www.icisequynhon.com/conferences/2026/SCB2026/abstract.html • Detailed guidelines for presentation format and poster dimensions will be sent to authors with accepted submission. Thematic Areas Authors are invited to submit contributions addressing one or more of the following thematic areas: 1. Circular Economy Models for Agriculture and Forest Raw Materials Sustainable and synergetic resource management practices (land use, cultivation, harvesting) to secure Agro-forestry raw materials for the biorefining industry in a zero-waste manner. The inclusion of non-wood resources (annual plants, industrial crops, agricultural wastes) to the raw material supply chain for biomass refining would ease the pressure on wood shortage, further mitigating the climate change while still conserving the biodiversity. 2. Pathways for Agro-Forestry Raw Materials Integration into Biorefining Industry Innovative logistical, technological, or operational practices for incorporating non-wood feedstocks into existing wood-based biorefining industries. Topics include supply-chain redesign, quality standardization, pre-processing treatments, and hybrid feedstock strategies. 3. Sustainable Agriculture and Forest Management and Certification Systems Advances in responsible land-use practices, certification schemes, and standards that align agricultural and forestry systems. Works in streamlining the existing Agricultural and Forest certification frameworks in the context of synergizing the two sectors. This includes case studies on Agro-Forestry models, best practices on Agro-Forestry management, verification frameworks, and collaborative governance mechanisms. 4. Policy Instruments and International Frameworks for the Bioeconomy Analysis of regulatory approaches, governance structures, incentives, and financing mechanisms shaping the development of sustainable bioeconomy systems at national and global scales. 5. Innovative Pulping and Processing Technologies for Alternative Biomass Innovative solutions in terms of both process chemistry and engineering for processing the new raw material supply chain (non-wood and wood) to fibers of adequate quality. Reinvention of fiber products formation (pulp, paper, board, textile, micro-/nano-cellulose) to fully exploit the potential of blending non-wood and wood fibers. 6. Public-Private Partnerships for Scaling Sustainable Solutions Case studies and frameworks for effective collaboration between government, industry, academia, and local communities. Emphasis on risk-sharing models, technology deployment, and coordinated investment to accelerate sustainable biomass utilization. Conference Venue The conference will be held at ICISE (Quy Nhon, Vietnam), an internationally recognized venue designed to foster interdisciplinary scientific dialogue. Additional information on logistics, accommodation, and travel will be available on the conference website.
